Despite the lack of official confirmation from Marvel Studios, Cumberbatch had been reported to appear in the threequel - something that hasn't been confirmed until the latest leaked set image reveals him greeting Peter Parker to Sanctum Sanctorum. This makes sense considering that it has been previously confirmed that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will have narrative connections to Spider-Man: No Way Home. While its proper marketing campaign has yet to begin, Spider-Man 3 tie-in merchandise heavily suggests that the future MCU Sorcerer Supreme will be involved in the story. Marvel Studios' upcoming Sony collaboration is one of the most anticipated films of the year.
